Botswana and South Africa share close ties. Though sending shipments to Botswana from South Africa is generally straightforward, here are some things to bear in mind.

Country Information

The official value limit for goods to Botswana is up to USD 50.00. There is no de minimis value in Botswana. All goods are subject to formal clearance and duties and taxes may apply.

Botswana customs have changed the requirements on clearing shipments for individuals. Individual importers are not required to be registered on e-filing and must have a TIN (Trade Identity Number) in order for clearance to be processed. Individuals should contact Botswana Unified Revenue for registration. Delays will be faced if individuals are not registered on e-filing.

NI = A negotiable instrument is a document guaranteeing the payment of a specific amount of money, either on demand, or at a set time, with the payer named on the document.

 

Prohibited items

The following items are specifically not allowed to be sent with DHL to Botswana. This is in addition to DHL’s Globally standard list of prohibited items which can be found here.

Size and Weight notes

The maximum weight per shipment is 300 kg (660.0 lb). The maximum weight per piece is 70.0 kg (154.0 lb). The maximum dimensions of each shipment are length: 120.0 cm (47.0 in); height: 160.0 cm (62.0 in); width: 100.0 cm (39.0 in). Pallets are accepted.
